( Ottawa, Canada) – Karim Achab, the newly appointed Prime Minister of the Kabylian Provisional Government in Exile, has delivered his first public address through Kabylia TV from Ottawa, Canada.

He succeeds Hanafi Ferhouh, who previously held the office.

In his speech, Achab began by expressing his heartfelt condolences to the families who lost loved ones in the devastating wildfires that have once again ravaged Kabylia. He also wished a swift recovery to those who were injured and paid tribute to the firefighters, volunteers, and all those working tirelessly to contain the blazes.

On the political dimension of the crisis, Achab argued that the recurring wildfires are part of what he described as a deliberate scorched-earth policy targeting Kabylia since 2021.

He announced that, following his official taking office, he intends to submit a bill to the Kabylian Parliament seeking to classify and formally recognize acts of arson in Kabylia as non-conventional acts of war allegedly carried out by the Algerian military regime.

Furthermore, Achab stated that his government would seek to engage international institutions to open independent investigations under international law. According to him, substantial evidence has been gathered and documented since the summer of 2021 to support these allegations.
