(Paris, France)–In the wake of the riots and looting that have affected France, President Ferhat Mehenni, leader of the Kabylia self-determination movement, issued an appeal on the social media platform X, urging French citizens of Kabylian origin not to engage in looting, property damage, or the destruction of public buildings.

In his appeal, Mehenni first emphasized that Algeria, through its servants, operating on social media, had been relaying calls of  the far left to demonstrate, and mobilize young French people of Algerian origin.

Then, he stated,“If young French people of Kabylian origin took part in last week’s demonstrations, we call on them to exercise the utmost caution.”. He added: “Algeria is no longer our homeland. It has become our current colonial hell.”

Mehenni called on the Kabylian people not to compromise themselves by engaging in reprehensible acts. He stressed the distinction between the legitimate exercise of democratic rights and criminal conduct: demonstrating is a democratic right, vandalism and looting are offenses, and violence against people is a crime.

He also warned young Kabylians against tarnishing their reputations or jeopardizing their futures by allowing themselves to be drawn into actions that serve neither their people nor their national cause.

“Our duty calls on us all to unite our forces to save Kabylia, so that we may live free and in peace in a civilized country: “the Federal Republic of Kabylia,” he declared.

The Republic of Kabylia was proclaimed on December 14th, 2025 in exile, in Paris.

The appeal concludes with a tribute to those imprisoned for their political convictions and to those who have sacrificed their lives for Kabylia’s freedom.

Honor to the Kabyle political prisoners.

Glory to eternal Kabylia and to those who fell for its freedom.
