New York –Today 20th April, 2024 at the United Nations in New York, the President of Kabylia Self-determination Movement–Mr. Ferhat Mehenni – officially proclaimed the Renaissance of Kabylia State at 18:57 pm, Kabylia time.

This is a historical moment for Kabylia people that have endured colonialism, racism, coercion, discrimination and exile from Algeria state since 1962. This proclamation is a milestone that has been reached in a term of a peaceful political fight towards Kabylia’s independence since several projects and institutions were achieved by Kabylia’s provisional government in exile, such as, Kabylia flag, Kabylia anthem, Kabylia passport, Kabylia constitution, etc

Many Kabylians attended the official declaration of rebirth of Kabylia state, some came form France, others from Canada and United States. Before the President proclaimed the revival of Kabylia state, some activists gave short speeches in which they underscored the necessity of Kabylia independence to save Kabylia’s millennial cultural heritage and language from Algeria’s hegemonic plan. Also, spread hope that’s denied by the colonial Algeria in Kabylia, create opportunities and bring wealth to its people, ensure security to Kabylia people, and a better future for next generations.

This symbolic proclamation was proudly celebrated by the assistance.However, 500 Kabylia’s Self-determination innocent activists are detained in Algeria’s jails, including 38 detainees who are sentenced to death, simply they were staunch advocates and supporters of Kabylia Self-determination.

For your information, President Ferhat Mehenni, intervened earlier on 16th April at United Nations on the occasion of natives commission where he strongly urged creation of an integrated group of experts to the 4th commission of decolonization of UNO that will represent the aspirations of people of Kabylia to decolonize their land.
