( France, Paris) –Today December 14th, 2025, the movement for Kabylia self-determination ( MAK) proclaimed as expected its Unilateral Declaration of Independence.
This is a historical moment for Kabylia, which the Kabylian people have been awaiting since the confiscated independence of Algeria in 1962.
During this event hundreds of activists attended the ceremony of independence as well as numerous international delegations and political personalities to show their solidarity and support to the Kabylian people.
This declaration was planned to take place in the near Versailles in the suburb of Paris at the Palais des Congrès (Convention Center). However, the French authorities cancelled the event some hours before it was due to happen, invoking security concerns. The President Ferhat Mehenni of the Kabylian Government addressed immediately the Kabylian people on Taqvalyt TV Channel and ensured its fellow citizens that the Declaration of Independence will be acted no matter the hurdles, on December 14th, 2025.
Now that Kabylia proclaimed its independence, it will be interesting to know which is the 1st country to officially recognize the new State. President Ferhat Mehenni in a recent interview highlighted that he received some support and promises from some Kabylia’s allies.
Knowing that Israel was the first State that recognized Algeria’s independence, would Israel do the same for Kabylia?
For now an important milestone has been achieved in Kabylia’s aspiration for the emancipation of the long time oppressed Kabylian people. Therefore, the time is for joy celebration.
