In Ottawa–President Ferhat Mehenni, accompanied by Mr. Achab, and several Kabylians

( Ottawa) – The President of Kabylia Self-determination Movement in exile, Mr. Ferhat Mehenni arrived in the capital of Canada to meet up with members of the Canadian parliament to discuss the future of Kabylia, and seek a potential support to recognize the Kabylian state.

In today’s visit, he held talks with elected officials of the different political parties who serve at the Canadian parliament.

This diplomatic visit comes after Kabylia Declaration of Independence, which was proclaimed in Paris, on December 14th, 2025, and after the Israeli’s parliament ( the Knesset) debated for the first time the Kabylia’s issue on whether to recognize the Kabylia state by the state of Israel, on January 14th, 2026.

These major events are a new milestone in Kabylia’s successful pursuit of diplomacy to win the political fight against Algerian colonialism in favor of Kabylia state recognition.

As a reminder, this is the second visit of Mr. Ferhat Mehenni to the Canadian parliament. The first visit was on June 15th, 2022, about a year after the Algerian dictator regime set arson to Kabylia, and labeled the MAK movement as a terrorist entity without any mere proof of violence, which has received a backlash from democratic countries, namely, the United States. Also, the United Nations and Amnesty International.
